Carreg Rattery is a small rattery based in Cardiff, Wales. Until recently we were based in Portsmouth, Hampshire and we still travel to that part
of the country on average once a month so we are still happy to home rats in the South East. Carreg is run by myself (Laura)
with help from my husband, Michael (mainly cage cleaning duties!) and our small son Felix (mainly looking cute duties!).
I was originally mentored by Sue Brown of Pendragon Stud but am no longer under any formal mentorship. I do however take advice from
and owe a great debt of thanks to many other breeders including Lisa Grove of Halcyon Stud, Estelle Sandford of Alpha Centauri Stud and Julie Oliver of Valhalla Stud.
Carreg Rats is NOT an NFRS registered stud name (although we are members), it is just how I like to refer to myself and my rats.
My primary aim is to improve the temperament, longevity and health of the Fancy Rat. All of my rats are
pets first and are not guaranteed to be of show quality (in terms of their appearance) but they are guaranteed
to be healthy and loving pets. I will primarily be breeding Russian Blues in dumbo and rex but will nearly
always have other varieties available. All kittens will only be homed with approved owners and prospective owners
will be asked to fill in an application form before being added to my waiting list. I never have and never will cull my litters.
